In Good Company | 24 May 2014 | 730pm, Esplanade Recital Studio
Formal. Stuffy. Boring. To many who live and breathe the world of pop and modern music, those are words that come to mind when asked to describe a classical music recital. Classical musicians have been fighting such misconceptions for decades and musicians in Singapore are certainly no exception.
More than Music is a series of chamber music concerts aimed at engaging the audience in a more intimate way and bringing classical music closer to the hearts of Singaporeans, and was founded by up-and-rising Singaporean musicians Loh Jun Hong and Abigail Sin in 2013.
As part of the More Than Music series, ‘In Good Company’ was held on 24th May 2014 last year in the Esplanade Recital Studio. Softrock Living is pleased to be able to sponsor the décor for this event by contributing our custom-designed bean bags to dress the performance space.
Joined by cellist Lin Juan, the trio presented works by Beethoven, Schumann, Faure and more and instead of simply letting the audience read from the programme booklet as in most concerts, the three musicians added a personal touch to the evening by speaking about the music and their relationships to it to the audience. The night ended with much aplomb and encores from each of the performers – a successful night indeed and we are certainly glad that we could be part of it in our own way.
